FAQ
What is CPR?
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - (CPR) - is an emergency life saving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. Keeping the blood flow active, even partially, extends the opportunity for a successful resuscitation once trained medical staff arrive.
What is Cardiac Arrest and what is a Heart Attack?
Cardiac Arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and causes the heart to beat rapidly, beat chaotically, or stop beating; cardiac arrest is an "electrical" problem. A Heart Attack, often called a myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked; a heart attack is a "circulation" or "plumbing" problem. In either case, call 911 immediately.
Why are you offering these CPR training sessions?
At Knox Financial Services, we believe in contributing to our community. Jason and Amber Knox believe that lives can be saved with CPR. Amber's father passed away in 1986 from cardiac arrest, we have had clients suffer cardiac arrest, and our team all know people that have suffered cardiac arrest. Sadly, some of these people with cardiac arrest passed away. We wish to provide the knowledge and training for individuals that may help those with cardiac arrest and could potentially be saved with CPR. While CPR may not save all lives, if our sponsored CPR training saves even one life, we believe our efforts are worthwhile.
Where is the class?
The class will be at our West Union office location, 309 HWY 150 N, West Union, IA 52175. Our West Union office location allows more space for classroom training than our Decorah office location. All clients and their guests, regardless of where they usually meet with us, are invited to attend the CPR class.
May I earn my CPR Certification of Completion at this training session?
Yes, by attending our sponsored CPR training class in person and meeting the requirements for certificates of completion, administered by the Instructor following the class. The Instructor solely determines eligibility for the certification of completion, based on completing the class requirements. The Instructor is certified by the American Heart Association. The Instructor is not affiliated with Knox Financial Services, nor Lincoln Investment.
I have already had CPR training. Should I attend this class?
Yes. We believe if you don't use your skills regularly, you are likely to lose them. Even if you feel up to date, a refresher may be helpful. If you are experienced, please come and share your knowledge with our class.

Should I attend the online version?
We believe in person attendance is the best opportunity to learn CPR. If you are not able to attend in person, we still encourage you to observe the class online. Online participants will not be eligible for the certificate of completion.
