What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - (CPR) - is an emergency life saving procedure performed when the heart stops beating.  Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.  Keeping the blood flow active, even partially, extends the opportunity for a successful resuscitation once trained medical staff arrive.

What is Cardiac Arrest and what is a Heart Attack?

Cardiac Arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and causes the heart to beat rapidly, beat chaotically, or stop beating; cardiac arrest is an "electrical" problem.  A Heart Attack, often called a myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked; a heart attack is a "circulation"  or "plumbing" problem.  In either case, call 911 immediately.

Why are you offering these CPR training sessions?

At Knox Financial Services, we believe in contributing to our community Jason and Amber Knox believe that lives can be saved with CPR.  Amber's father passed away in 1986 from cardiac arrest, we have had clients suffer cardiac arrest, and our team all know people that have suffered cardiac arrest.  Sadly, some of these people with cardiac arrest passed away.  We wish to provide the knowledge and training for individuals that may help those with cardiac arrest and could potentially be saved with CPR.  While CPR may not save all lives, if our sponsored CPR training saves even one life, we believe our efforts are worthwhile.

Where is the class?

The class will be at our West Union office location, 309 HWY 150 N, West Union, IA 52175.  Our West Union office location allows more space for classroom training than our Decorah office location.  All clients and their guests, regardless of where they usually meet with us, are invited to attend the CPR class.

May I earn my CPR Certification of Completion at this training session?

Yes, by attending our sponsored CPR training class in person and meeting the requirements for certificates of completion, administered by the Instructor following the class.  The Instructor solely determines eligibility for the certification of completion, based on completing the class requirements.  The Instructor is certified by the American Heart Association.  The Instructor is not affiliated with Knox Financial Services, nor Lincoln Investment.

I have already had CPR training. Should I attend this class?

Yes.  We believe if you don't use your skills regularly, you are likely to lose them.  Even if you feel up to date, a refresher may be helpful.  If you are experienced, please come and share your knowledge with our class.

Who May Attend?

This CPR training session is limited to clients of Knox Financial Services and their guests.  Any of our clients with an active financial planning or investment management agreement are considered clients of Knox Financial Services.

May I invite a guest?

Clients of Knox Financial Services are encouraged to invite guests.  Please include your guest's name and information in the registration form below.  Each guest should also register using the same registration form.

Is there a limit to the number of attendees?

Yes, for the in-person class, as our space is limited, so please register early.  There is no limit to the number of online attendees.  If there is more interest in attending CPR training than our space allows for this in-person session, future class dates will be arranged to reasonably attempt to accommodate our clients that wish to attend CPR training.

Do I have to register for the class?

Yes, if you wish to attend the in-person class, given the space limitations of our classroom area.  Registration is also necessary for the online class, so we may send you the login information for the online class.

Is there a cost to attend the CPR training session?

Knox Financial Services is assuming the cost of the CPR training for our clients and their guests at this session.

Is there a cost for the CPR Certificate of Completion?

Knox Financial Services is assuming the cost of the CPR certificate of completion for our clients and their guests that attend our sponsored training class and meet the guidelines established by the American Heart Association.  Eligibility for the certificate of completion is determined by the Instructor.

Is there a minimum age to learn CPR?

The AHA does not mandate a minimum age requirement for learning CPR.

What should I wear to class?

The CPR training involve hands-on practice sessions, so wear something comfortable, with the flexibility to bend and kneel.  If you have long hair, it is best to wear it pulled back.  Casual dress is appropriate and encouraged.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring yourself.  All class sessions will include appropriate tools, including manikins.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes!  We will have snacks prior to the training and during break.  After the course is completed, please enjoy lunch with us.

Do I need to attend in person?

We believe in person attendance is the best opportunity to learn CPR.  If you are not able to attend, we offer an online version of the class.  With the online version, you will be able to view the Instructor as they conduct the class.  The requirements to receive a certificate of completion require in person evaluation, therefore online participants will be not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.  If possible, we encourage attending the class in person.

Should I attend the online version?

We believe in person attendance is the best opportunity to learn CPR.  If you are not able to attend in person, we still encourage you to observe the class online.  Online participants will not be eligible for the certificate of completion.  However, we believe knowledge is always useful, participating in the class online will help you gain the knowledge to become a CPR provider.  If you wish to later pursue your certificate of completion with an in person Instructor, the online class will help provide knowledge of the steps required to obtain the CPR certificate of completion.

Is there anything else I should know?
